Jim Kelley Power Transformer question

Post by wildeman »

Hello guys,

I found a nice Power Transformer 2 x 350V 160 mA, 6,3V 5A. Can I use this PT for a Jim Kelley single channel with reverb. 4 x6V6, 4 x 12AX7 without problems. TAD says a Twin Reverb transformer would be fine for a Kelley. Is that true?

Thanks Danny.

It would work for a pair of 6V6 but you will have too much voltages on the plates (around 480v).
The Kelley use a diode based rectifier.

You need 300mA PT around 320-330V and JJ tubes (around 450V at the plates)
If you use any other 6V6 you need to go down to 300v (around 400v).
