Got a new toy from ebay after seeing a guy use one in a video.
I really like this unit, it is fast and accurate. I mostly use it to check old ceramic or domino cap values fast.

Very nice! I've seen those before and I like the small footprint. I have the luxury of a very high quality LCR meter but I would consider one of those for home use.
Re: Capacitor, inductor checker
Are you sure of the accuracy, specifically for inductance? I bought one to measure wah inductors and found that it was inadequate for the task. Capacitance measurements seemed better.

Re: Capacitor, inductor checker
This may be true, but how many times will one use a meter to check the value of a cap compared to checking an inductor? That ratio means this is still a very useful item in the amp building/repairing world.chordball wrote:Are you sure of the accuracy, specifically for inductance? I bought a couple of different versions of these cheap checkers a while back. They are pretty handy... Especially with that ZIF socket and small footprint. Great for pedal building.
Re: Capacitor, inductor checker
It is useful to me and quick but it can't do it all and that is why we have our other test equipment.
As for iron core inductors such as Hammond 158L choke this meter has really high henry readings so I know it is incorrect but I haven't tested with smaller inductors one might use.
I use it to quickly check old caps and resistor values before I put the component on a new tone board. Easier then my capacitance tool or DMM.
I think I paid $8 for this thing.
