Mystery Resistor across 6l6gc

Post by WORMDIRT »

I'm doing a tune up on a red bear mk60, and at some point someone put a 100ohm resistor across the heaters (Pin 7/2) then to ground on one of the power tube sockets.. Any idea what this was trying to achieve? It was strange enough for me to believe it was some sort of mod that I'm not aware of.

At least they didn't run the 100 ohm R from chassis to pin 7 then the rest of the lead to pin 2. One of my crustomers who tries to build kits (and can't follow directions) did this. Luckily filament current was only run to pin 2. Brought his prize in wondering why it sounded weak and had a lot of hum.
