Tweed DEluxe style preamp into LTPI? Anyway one tried it?
Hello! I'm thinking of the next build I can do with the chassis and transformers at hand and I was wondering if I could create a tweed style preamp section going into a long tail phase inverter. Has anyone tried this? How did it sound?

Leo already did it on a 5G9. I built one a few years ago - they sound nice.

5G9 is fixed biased instead of cathode biased (like the 5E3) and has tremolo, but it does have the 5E3 "tweed" preamp.
One could eliminate the tremolo and simply make it cathode biased.

This is a soundbyte of my 5G9 with a 6G15 unit in front. '89 American Series Strat with a G12M Ipswich Greenback (20W). Mic'd with an SM57 into my desk and into garbageband on my Mac. The 5G9 is king of the tweed tremolo amps.
