So, I've been tinkering all morning after realizing the last circuit i tried was hamstrung by my not reading the multiplier on the slope resistor, and nothing could calm the overt treble I was hearing.
So now my YBA-1 is kind of a bastardized el34 powered Matchless Lightning. I like it, the cranked gain sound is actually pretty aggressive. I used a Marshall master volume instead of the single ganged cross line master, I would have used a PPIMV, but i didn't have any dual pots kicking around.
So far it's interesting. My current test guitar is a PRS DGT trem, and it seems to like it. I think something with more aggressive pickups would really wind the amp out. The only problem is that it's DAMN LOUD!
OY! is it loud.
It's got no Negative Feedback, which i have read is a big part of the "Matchless sound"
I might dial the gain back a touch... not 100% sure yet, but it's a fun amp to mess around on.
Matchless LIghtning 50 watter...
