Peavey chassis straps?
Hello! Does anyone know a source for replacement chassis straps on an older Peavey? These are bigger (over 6"), so Fender ones won't line up. Or is it a case of separate bolts and a cup washer? Someone must have them. Or not? Thanks for any tips.

Re: Peavey chassis straps?
I used to repair a lot of Peaveys and they were always very helpful and very willing to get me any parts I needed and the prices were very reasonable. I haven't contacted them in a few years but it can't hurt to get in touch with their parts department.

No, no; I don't mean the handle, but the chassis straps;

apparently, from the steel guitar forum (and more apparent is that a lot of steel players like their Peavey), the straps were available a while ago, but in black. Chrome was no more. Now, even black seems NLA.
These are longer than a Fender type (available everywhere), so they won't line up at all.
I may just go to separate bolts and cup washers. It'll work, look OK, but the indent from the straps sill show.
Yes, the Felix Unger in me wants it to look right, even if the amp will never sound 'right'.

You might check with a company to have them re-chromed. Do a google search for companies in your area that do plating. Or talk to a an auto body shop to see if they have some recommendations for companies that plate metal.
I can't tell a lot from the picture to see if the small bit of rust has pitted the metal or not. That could determine whether re-plating would look good or not. Another option is to powder coat all the chrome bits on the amp in black or any other color you want. Of course, this takes away from the originality, but might help improve tone.
Edited to add: Or, you could leave them that way. IMHO, it's sometimes nice to keep things in their aged condition.
