My grandad just gave me a box of valves he found in his loft, most have still got the writing on but some haven't. I've already identified a Mullard EL84 KM2 B7C4 but the others I've had no such luck.
V1 has 8U45 written on it and has four lines on the top like a Mullard or Amperex valve.
V2 I'm hoping is a 12AX7, looks like one to me but I haven't seen many other 12A** Valves so can't compare. It says 3K4/571 on it quite clearly and looks like it used to say Brimar on it.
V3 I have no clue. I have two of these and the writing is still partly on one of them. All I can see is *V03-10, not sure what the first letter is, I did assume a C but it looks more like a D or an O. The same one has what I think is U17, 'Amperex symbol' 3A3.
Someone please help with idenitifying these valves

Re: Someone please help with idenitifying these valves
V1 is a challenge. Pretty certainly a Philips made in Eindhoven (the 8 part of the code) beyond that can't find anything that works with those numbers that looks similar. Here's a link to a great resource for Philips codes. http://frank.pocnet.net/other/Philips/P ... ListAB.pdf Good luck!
V2 is a Brimar ECC82 or 12AU7.
V3 The QV10-10 and is designed as a radio transmitter VHS power tube of about 10 watt output.

Thanks for that old tube. Most of the valves in the box were transmitter valves (Grandad is an amateur radio enthusiast). I'll try and find out what the Phillips valve is.

I use a couple of tips I found on an audio board - breathe on the tube to create condensation and you can often find the etched writing, or shine an LED flashlight around it or from behind and that will usually expose the etching. Sometimes it's very faint and I have a few tubes with nothing on them that I can see, but it usually works.

V2-2 almost looks like a rectifier.
