New member here looking for some help.
I installed a VVR3 installed in a Weber 50 watt Marshall Plexi build. Everything checked out correctly per the test instructions & bias set correctly except the B+ out from the board is more than 20 volts lower than the B+ in. B+ in is 430vdc. B+ out is 360 vdc.
However, since everything seemed to be tracking correctly I installed the tubes and fired it up. When I turn the VVR it does reduce the volume but I get a lot of crackling and a nasty zapping buzz sound. Also, the signal is very fizzy & gated.
One thing I noticed on the installation instructions is that the standby switch and VVR are after the first filter. On this amp the standby is before the first filter. I put the VVR in between the standby & first filter as there are multiple connections out of the filter. I have attached a drawing.
The amp was working fine before the VVR install.
Any help troubleshooting would be appreciated.
