Transformer Suggestions For SLO clone

Post by ToT »

I'm building an SLO style clone and am looking for recommendations for OT's other than Mercury or Heyboer. Any suggestions would greatly appreciated.

Greetings,

If transport from Germany is not a problem ($), than look at these excellent PT's and OT's ... this particular one OT made for SLO amps:

Sven,

Thank you! Even with shipping costs the OT is less than a Mercury/Marshall replacement. Looks like they're tempoarily closed though? Hopefully they'll be back up and running when I'm ready to order! Thanks again.

Go here http://sloclone.yesterdaysrevolt.com/index.php . These guys know a ton about these amps. I used a MM Twin reverb PT and a Hammond OT on mine, sounds great.

I found that forum before but wasn't able to find it the other day when searching. Thank you! The Twin OT is an interesting direction. I'm almost thinking of the Hiwatt OT if I can get the voltages to match up. I just registered @ Sloclone and am waiting to be "approved". I'm sure I'll find my fair share recomendations there. Thanks again!

I am going to say go with a Hi-DEF set from Onetics. I got turned on to them by DeYoung(oem for SLO trannies) Bud Purvine is a great guy, and he knows his stuff. I am currently building one myself with these trannies, I see you are in denver, perhaps we can get together so you can hear it.

I read about Bud Purvine and the Onetics trannies but I can't find any website for this company - how do you get in touch with Bud? And, may I ask, how much is he charging for a set of trannies for a SLO clone? Thanks

Use a Marshall JCM800 replacement tranny and if you like slap some 5881's in there. SLO is closer to a MArshall than a Shumacher Fender

Heyboer is smoking though!
