Gerry's got a kickstarter

Post by potatofarmer »

Just wow.

Okay, so I'm an idiot and put this in the wrong forum. So, uh, technical merits of solder-free tube amps. I can't think of any.

Too bad Gerry didn't get to the part of the discussion about the safety or the importance of lead dress.

I am dumbfounded that anyone here helped this POS!

Rewards: The Banana Jack Key Ring + The Life-Size Banana Jack Annotated Schematic (suitable for framing) + All of our entertaining educational materials (including Kenn's delightful book and our step-by-step assembly manual that explains the workings of a guitar amp in the same simple terms) + The Original Banana Jack Amp Kit (speaker not included)

Note the manual he is offering for a reward.

This is how Kickstarter works:

Dammit, if you unplug those banana jacks in the wrong order, and touch the exposed ends, filter caps zap you.

What the hell.

Never mind the likelihood of wires tearing out of plugs, accidentally or intentionally unplugging while it's turned on, etc.

He's going to need separate crowdfunding for a legal defense fund to handle all the product liability claims. Can you imagine what UL or CE would say about this?

But tube amp kits cost a lot, they're hard to put together, and nobody but nerds can understand them.

I think he's admitting he doesnt understand tube amps....;-)

Swapping the order of the building blocks will no doubt result in a one-of-a-kind custom sound! It's just made for experimenting!

I wonder if anyone ever mentioned that you only need to be hanging onto one wire if you're grounded...

Hopefully a lawyer looking for investment opportunities will see it and tell him about all of the lawsuits he's looking at if he takes this to market.
