Must find replacement power transformer!

Post by BobbySkidz »

I am trying to find a replacement power transformer for Kustom "The Defender" 50w 1x12 amp.

I can get one from the manufacturer for $80 but would prefer to find a more readily available replacement if at all possible.

Made by a chinese manufacturer named NRE, the transformer is 120v, has 4 primary leads and 7 secondary leads.

A picture of the power transformer label can be found here [img:800:600]http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h61/S ... dbdf09.jpg[/img]

Any suggestions would be appreciated. :?:

Doubtful. What sort of real estate does it occupy?

I note that one side of the HV winding and the 6.3v winding are marked 0. Does that mean that leg is grounded?

You are going to be hard pressed to find a drop in "readily available" replacement as the configuration is not off the shelf common. I'm not sure how much money you are willing to put in, but Heyboer could most likely wind you a replacement.

good luck

$80.00 is a bargain.

Yes - 0 is ground.

The screws are approx. 2in x 2.5in. slightly larger by 1 or 2 16ths.

On the primary side black and brown are connected together as are the white and blue.

I am not as much concerned about the $80 as I am about getting another cheap Chinese transformer. I'd like to find a better replacement.

Thanks for the help.

At least I know the voltages are not standard.
