Signal shielded wire

Post by TooL46_2 »

Hi Guys,

I was wondering what sort of shielded wire are you using in your amps? And (even more important ;)) -- where do you source it from?

In Australia I have an access to a very thin shielded cable that snaps almost all the time once it's solderd. It's like 0.5mm in diameter... Looking for something thicker and more durable.

Thanks for any tips!
-Tom

PS. Sorry, if the topic has already been covered. Used the search but couldn't find any good answer to my question.

Thanks Aleks! One can always count on you! :)

Apparently Mouser also has Australian page but don't know if they actually ship from Australia. I doubt it to be honest...

I use RG-174 - it is a mini coax cable. I came across a sizeable stash years ago at a ham radio flea market. You can still buy it through any radio supply house. It's good stuff.
