Tun-Sol 6EY6 same as 6v6?
I find conflicting info about using these in 6v6 amps. Anyone use these before?

I used to have a bunch of them. They make a pretty good sounding 6V6 substitute but they do like more current than the usual 6V6. They also pull quite a bit more heater current. Fender-style trannies are fine but keep an eye on something with less copper. You might need to change the tail resistor on a fixed bias circuit. sh

thanks this is for a 65amps ventura. I'll call them and make sure. Do you think they'll sound better than the jj's in there? tempted to just plug em in. have to wait 65 is still in bed CA time. thanks
update tried them, amp seemed fine (transformer didn't get hot) sounded good but, a lot less volume and punch then the JJ's(maybe there old and tired) They biased about the same as the jj's 2ma higher 52ma's. Took them ou,t going with jj for now, untill I talk to 65. Thanks again

AFAICT they pull 680mA each from the heater winding.

I think the JJ 6V6s are a different animal than the back-in-the-day versions of that tube. YMMV but they seem to put out a lot more juice that my NOS tubes. My luck with JJs hasn't been very good but that tube is a cut above. sh

myles Rose e-mailed me not to use this tube. So I will listen to him. Thanks
