Any Naylor Superdrive love?
Watched some clips of this amp and am diggin on it. After hearing a mates build with the bogner blue channel on one side, i felt my competitive side coming out..
Also really digged the perfect circle 'Judith' guitar tones, massive.
SPosedly a friedman modded marshall with something like the naylor front end.
Anyone played / been inside one? Comparisons?
I have some schems i found that im messin with.

Re: Any Naylor Superdrive love?
They are cool, same pre as the Budda Superdrive (coincidence?). Use a dual-gain pot for the OD gain control. There are gut shots and lots of schems online. The presence control is also very cool - I asked about it in a thread a little while back.

Re: Any Naylor Superdrive love?
Gotta say I'm really interested in the sounds available in this design.
This guy has a few nice vids of a SD60 2x12 combo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1JDmpBy ... dNq3KJg%3D
Unfortunately its out of my price range...and I'm probably not going to see one up close let alone get to play one.
So with the risk of seeming arrogant that I could just build a similar amp and get close to these tones...I'm starting to look at available info. I have a MC Fender style 50 Watt OT(4.2K) and choke. Also have a Bassman PT, but it has a HT CT and only 3.15A of heater voltage(thinking I could run 2x6l6gc and 4 ax7's).I think the OEM uses a non CT 350V PT with 5.5A of heater voltage and a 4.5K OT....
Any suggestions would be appreciated?
Thanks
Darin

Yeah ive watched a bunch of his clips, got some great tones. Evrything i read is guys saying how smooth they are, transitioning from clean to scream without any harshness or buzziness. I have a concorde chassis and PT and cab coming, was gonna do a K60 to match my K50, but think it will be better served as a SD60. I have a 4K3 50 watter im gonna use too. Could always ordr something from Heyboer.

whats the specs on your PT...you going to use el34's?
I'm going to try and work up a layout if possible with the info I have.
Not sure if I can get close to the voltages with the PT I have on hand.
330v-0-330V. I think the SD has 490V on the plates.
Would love to hear of your progress if possible.

Re: Any Naylor Superdrive love?
Thanks Gaz
Have you tried this design?
Again thanks for the info

No, but always wanted to. It's really just a hot-rodded 2204 with higher voltages, an effects loop, the cool presence circuit (which I have tried), and that nifty dual-pot gain control (like the Budda's).

Well when you put it like that...maybe it is possible to squeeze thisGaz wrote:No, but always wanted to. It's really just a hot-rodded 2204 with higher voltages, an effects loop, the cool presence circuit (which I have tried), and that nifty dual-pot gain control (like the Budda's).
design out. Can I ask what build did you put the presence circuit in ?
Thanks

Re: Any Naylor Superdrive love?
I got a bigass JTM style PT but overspec'd, its got 360 a side and gets about 480V with a GZ34, so will run somewhere around 500V and change im thinking in this build. The specs i have is the SD60 runs pretty high volts.
Darin i found a bunch of schems when googled, and watched some clips of the 38 too, that sounds pretty decent as well.
Be cool if you get in to this build too, im keen as.
A buddy who put e on to this amp is in the midst of a cathode biased thing, naylor front end into badcat backend. Looking forward to his results, hes using typical plexi iron.

Re: Any Naylor Superdrive love?
When I put this circuit for discussion in another forum I got the response that this could not work - the amp would oscillate. No particular reason given however. What was your experience, do you still use this circuit and if not, what did you replace it with?Gaz wrote:the cool presence circuit (which I have tried)
Thanks, Stephan

Nice...I'm thinking the PT I have might do for the SD38...will decide aboutazatplayer wrote:I got a bigass JTM style PT but overspec'd, its got 360 a side and gets about 480V with a GZ34, so will run somewhere around 500V and change im thinking in this build. the PT later.I really like the Badcat Hotcat style build I did a while back. Like to hear how your buddys turns out.
Hopefully Gaz can chime in about his experience with the cool presence circuit.
Re: Any Naylor Superdrive love?
Well, I just tried it in a Plexi circuit, and it did not oscillate. I really liked the response, but I did not keep it because the amp had a PPIMV, which rendered it useless at low volume settings. I opted for a "Cut" control in that amp because of the PPIMV. I haven't built another non-MV or pre-PI MV to try out again, but I look forward to it!
