10-32 vs 10-24
I saw the recent discussion on the threaded chassis mounts binding using 10-32 size threads. I am about to pull the trigger for some rivnuts from mcmaster (since no hardware store within a 30 mile radius seems to know what these are...), anyway, since I'm cheap, I want to avoid the payment for the rivnut setting tool and use a bolt to "tighten" and squeeze the rivnut into mount. I'm wondering if anyone here has done this successfully with aluminum 10-32 rivnuts and if they have had binding issues? Or should I get the thicker threads 10-24? I have other amp chassis with 10-32 and would like to stay all the same though. But if its a problem, or possible problem, I'll go 10-24. thanks in advance.

Don't take that thread out of context, which only pertained to the results of dryfitting s/s>s/s fine threads. There's nothing inherently wrong with the 10-32 thread pitch, just follow the applicable protocols for the application.surfsup wrote:I saw the recent discussion on the threaded chassis mounts binding using 10-32 size threads.
