Fender Super Six Reverb
There is a guy nearby selling an old Fender Super Six Reverb in 'average' (his words) condition. The Super Six is 100watts, feeding 6-10" speakers. The price ($300) seems pretty good.
Should I grab it?

Re: Fender Super Six Reverb
I would sure grab it and have some fun restoring if it even needs it.

You have to ask? You'll be the only kid on the block with one. They're awful topheavy so check it out for damage from falling over.don280z wrote:There is a guy nearby selling an old Fender Super Six Reverb in 'average' (his words) condition. If you believe in coincidence you're not looking close enough-Joe leaphorn
Re: Fender Super Six Reverb
The Super Six shared the chassis with the Twin Reverb, Quad Reverb, Dual Showman Reverb and Vibrosonic Reverb.
Only the Vibrosonic Reverb received a unique 8ohm output transformer, the others being 4ohm secondaries.
You could always make it into a head like the Showman or cut it down to a Twin.
Is it a master volume ?

If it was in France, no too far from where I live, for that price (that is to say circa 220 Euros) it would have been already bought and at home even in poor condition - not to say ANY condition !There is a guy nearby selling an old Fender Super Six Reverb in 'average' (his words) condition. Some times ago, at my local music shop, a EXC+ SF Dual Showman reverb sold for 1500 Euros (circa 2100 USD) and there is still a VG SF Super Reverb at 1200 euros (circa 1700 USD).
What you doing ? Don't wait too much...

I would snag it for that price. The transformers and speakers are worth more than the asking price. You may even get lucky and find a few decent tubes in there.
Once you work on a Fender, you will be spoiled for life. It takes less than five minutes to have the chassis on your bench ready for testing.

I'd go look it over make sure the main parts work
Speakers , transformers, etc. Or be prepared to invest $ into it to get it working.
When I buy any amp i am prepared to invest in at least new filter caps and tubes.
The last thing you need even at a great price is an amp you can't afford to restore so you can use it.
Those amps bring over $1600 in excellent condition so a flag does go up at $300.

Unless it is really trashed, it is probably worth well over $300 just for the cab, iron, and chassis. If the speakers are original and still good, those have to be worth a bit, too. Old tubes not used up -- getting even better. At $300, "average condition" is a no brainer. Take a day off from work if you need to. Hurry.

Thanks for the support.....
I bought one of these (new-mid 1970's) when I was in High School. Thats why this one caught my eye.
I don't remember it weighing 100lbs - I guess I was stronger back then.
Now I need to find a Gibson SG with P-90 pickups and I will be 'back in my day'...haha
There is one guy ahead of me on this amp. He has until Sunday to pick it up. If he doesn't, its mine!!
I'll keep you posted.....

Re: Fender Super Six Reverb
Thanks Dr-Joned !Nice collection tubeelectron !!!
These were offered at a very affordable price, so I had NO hesitation to deal-on-the spot. But it was much more than 300 USD, anyway. One exception : the Dlx-Rvb - it has been given to me by a job colleague who was prepared to trash it... Incredible but real... Fortunately, I was there in the right time to prevent a crime !
A+!
Re: Fender Super Six Reverb
Friend of mine has one but it needs restoration. Heaters light but B+ doesn't come up. I figured to repair, recap, retube and convert it back to blackface for him but at the time I couldn't find any selling for over 700.00 and he didn't have 400 to put into it.
