Question, i was looking at the signal on my new scope with one channel on the el34 screen at 1x and the other on the plate at 10x. All working well but with regular music playing the signal doesnt look like a smooth sinewave. So i d/l a 1khz wav file from the internet. Fire up my pc. Boot reaper, insert the wav file, set a hardware out and hook it to my amp through a reamp box. I set the level low and test it first with a song on the pc. Amp working fine. I then hit play on the wave file and the amp shuts down immediately. I check the fuse, a 2amp sloblo got roasted.
I replace with a 1amp sloblo and amp works fine with a guitar. Works fine with a song reamped.
Why'd the fuse blow? Wife and kid got home so had to pack up at this point. I think the wav signal might have been higher, but i wouldnt expect the fuse to blow like that from an input signal.

did your probe slip and touch something it shouldn't have?

No i had both probes "clipped" on the octal socket pins. Belton, double hole, figure "8" pins so its impossible for that to happen. They were clipped on the top hole. The probe tips are insulated.
