Re: GAGA amp
I remember seeing that before.
It is a OTL amp which means it doesn't use an output transformer.
But I find it hard to pin down the design.
I suspect it uses some sort of constant current device (read solid state) to accomplish that.
But I can't see where this thing is even for sale anywhere.
The rumor I read was it was $2K.

Re: GAGA amp
its not output transformer-less, that the point, it uses a radio frequency convertor
in place of a OPT, it Idealizes the impedance relationship of a OPT without the
inherent characteristics that cause distortion in a traditional wire wound
laminate core inductor.
You see that scope image
Its patented, I've got references but would have to dig, the fellow tried to
boost on the garage a couple years ago and scadaddled when I made stink
about the originality of the design and whether he had the rights to MFG.
I've got a schematic of the original design concept with the patent holder and designer Info

Re: GAGA amp
its based on a David Berning US pat.5,612,646 3/18/97
Its RF impedance conversion, its a switching power supply impedance converter.
The Berning rig was called a ZH270, zero-hysteresis technology.

Milbert GAGA
Because GAGA uses ZOTL, a new kind of technology that can't be fully described in old ways, it's important to define terms clearly. This is done in the David Berning patent listed above which describes one advanced technique of power conversion that near perfectly couples the power tubes to the speaker load, giving what we demonstrate as the the purest possible tube performance. We present more details at http://milbert.com/gaga/technology#newkind
It's tough to bring fresh technology to market. GAGA has been a while coming, but it is now in stock, boxed, and for sale via http://milbert.com/gaga We are also developing relationships with a few select dealers around the country.

Re: GAGA amp
I don't see it for sale on the website. I see that I can contact you for information regarding a purchase, but it is not for sale as you say.... but it is now for sale via http://milbert.com/gaga ...
BTW, the technology looks interesting. Your website organization is atrocious and gives me the feeling that you are selling snake-oil. Pages with endless trails that seem to fizzle out into nothingness. Just one guy's view point.

Re: GAGA amp
If you dig around enough you can find the patents and such. It took about 5 minutes to find them from the first link posted.
I like the idea a lot but I'd love to see a schematic and more detailed implementation before I guess too much. I get the basics of throwing a switcher in there for use as an impedance converter but I'm curious about operating speed of the switches, how ripple is handled and especially how the transformer is actually implemented. I'm not trying to infringe on anybodies (nearly expired!) patents or anything, I'm just curious from an engineering standpoint.

@ Milbert,
Do you think there will be any conflict with using the name GAGA?
