a Green master volume 7 knob unit or a verellen skyhammer?
and also for cabinets im debating between a green 6x12 and a 70's era marshall 8x10.
i play hardcore punk and love that old black sabbath style tone that the Green amps get im just concerned about the versatility.
any thoughts?

Black Sabbath? Versatility?
The '70s Marshall 8x10 would be very good but probably around $3,000 I think.

Re: contemplating between
i found ones for 1000 at a local vintage guitar store, thought it was a pretty good deal
and i dont know, green amps gain tone reminds me of black sabbath a lot and i like that i just dont know how versatile of an amp it is.

Re: contemplating between
the blak sabith tone is laney supergroup thru 4x12 stacks with celestion 30's.
Not sure how the sabith reference is coming in.
Both the 6x12 and the 8x10 suck....
the 6x12 is stuck as a 12ohm cabinet it's to big for one person to comfortably move on by themselves. it doesn't add low end only preseved low end because it's louder.
same as the 8x10... it's just to heavy and big. it's a lazy cabinet with a slow response so the lows get muddy. it's bright around 4Khz.
IMHO pointless ... pick a great amp head and voice it to the cabinet for tone not looks if you need size add a cabinet. make sure your amp supports the ohm loads of the cabinets you pick
it sounds more like you want a stoner rock set up.
look into the Ampeg V4 heads and Orange OD120 or Matamp 100
cabinets Ampeg V4 4x12 Rivera K412B if you need low end for a drop tuning find a rivera los low bottom sub.
Green is over priced I'm not 100% sure how they are directly indirectly related to Orange/Matamp clones? built in Spokane Wa. But they hold no value in comparision to Orange and Matamp, but cost more..

you just need something loud. the verellen is a SLO clone, no doubt. the green is matamp/orange. the black sabatth tone is not hard too achieve. just need something loud, not too clean, not too much gain, and humbuckers. a treble booster would help too. no offense, but it's almost comical you'd ask about which one of those amps to buy on this forum, mainly because it's a builder's forum, but also because people around don't seem interested in those kind of amps. might be better off asking at the gear page.
