I'm new here.

Post by pcauchi »

So, I'm new to this forum (and new to forums in general). I just wanted to say hello to all and introduce myself.

I run a music store on Long Island, New York and thereby am surrounded by gear all day. I talk gear, read about gear, and sell gear all day - far from a know it all - my occupation just lends itself to constantly being on a quest for tone. Word on the street is that members of this forum are very well informed regarding amps and tone in general - one of the reasons I've decided to jump on board.

I've been educating myself specially about D*mble and Wreck style amps pretty consistently for some time now. I am currently in the market for a D style amp - most probably a kit. I've built two amps already and the D style amp will definitely be the next addition to my arsenal.

I look forward to chatting with all of you in the future.

Pat.

Pat,

Great to meet you. You'll find some good guys here and the chance to learn a lot. I am sure you have some insider info on what folks are looking for that will be a great contribution to all the techno geeks here too.

Have you built an amp before? There are certainly lots of kits and options and you have come to a great place for a DIY project.

Welcome!

Cheers, Pat.

Pat: "I've built two amps already."

RJ: "Have you built an amp before?"

Really paying attention, there. ;P

This is a great forum for DIYers. And I recognize a few names from thegearpage.net, which is great for deep geeking about all kinds of gear. Lots of great stuff to keep me reading between deliveries of guitar magazines...

Pat,

Welcome to TAG and you have experience to add to the forum as well with daily access to guitars and tone generators (amps).

It will be interesting to see which Dumble circuit you decide on, I haven't been able to yet so I built a stripped down version just so I could have one to tweak until I get my others built. Which probably will be the Robben Ford and 183 TKT. The bluesmaster HRM is also on the radar.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

In the past I have built a Trinity Triwatt - Hiwatt inspired clone - which is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend Trinity's kit (not a paid enforcement or advertisement of any kind!). The overdrive tones are AMAZING! Definitely worth looking into for anyone interested in a British inspired circuit - a little more off the beaten path than the countless Marshall clones out there. I have also built a deluxe clone. Both builds were great experiences.

I'm very interested in an 80's clone D style - 6L6 power section - I've been going back and forth between Ceriatone's OTS and Brown Note's version. Although a C3 SLO kit is always in the back of my mind...

Anyone have any experience with Brown Note's customer service, delivery time, lead times, etc?

Thanks again for the warm welcome to all!
