10" Speaker recommendation needed

Post by sliberty »

I built an AC15 circuit into a tiny little Crate Palomino V8 chassis and combo cabinet. The OT I used can support 4 or 8 ohms. I'd like to replace the Crate/Celestion 10" speaker with something moderately priced that will sound good in such a small cabinet. Strong bass would be a big plus since such a small cabinet size tends to hurt the bass response.

If anybody has a suitable speaker, or can recommend a great choice for not too much money, let me know.

I quite like the celestion G10 greenback, but it is possibly more expensive than what you have in mind. Weber's Sig 10S is likely to be quite good for a US$30 speaker

Have you checked out WGS speakers lately? They have three 10" drivers, and all of them sound good. The alnico is a bit overpriced, but their big ceramic one has 90% of the alnico tone and only costs $65 I think.
