the marshall/vox tone stacks have a 33k/100k resistor on them so I figured why not put it on a switch to go between either, depending on what you want to do? So I put it on the cad layout in red with a 33k on the board and a 68k on the switch that could be switched on in series for 101k or bypassed for 33k only. What do you guys think of this?
Is the bright switch too close to the input?
Are the leads for this option too long (antenna) for a mod like this in the tone stack area of the amp wiring?
Have you considered putting the 68k on the board with only the leads going to the front panel? In that configuration, the jumper wires would only be in the circuit when bypassing the 68k. Further, you could wire an ON-OFF-ON switch to give values of 33k, 101k, and 68k.
I did think about somehow having both Rs on the board but admit as much as i've been learning, the on.off.on, on.on.on, spdt, 3pdt, etc switch stuff for some reason still confuses me and i didnt know how to accomplish it.
Reading your suggestion, it sounds more flexible and with better lead dress (not sure if thats the term for better wire routing) so i'll think about it and see if i can figure it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
Z, I'm struggling to figure it out. Putting two 33k and one 68k in the mix, using an on off on DPDT switch I can get 66k and 101k but how do you get 33k as well? In the center position the on-off-on switch is open so there is no continuity:
