Well I got my prior problem fixed. Thanks to those that responded.
Ground wire to chassis problem...and I didn't electricute myself either.
One other question, If I may ask:
The speaker in this 1966 Deluxe Reverb is not original as they came with an Oxford if memory serves me correctly. I'd like to know what model this Jensen is though. It sounds great but I'm not really familiar with it, being I'm predominately an Alnico guy.
Here's the info:
It's a 12" speaker, silver colored basket frame with the following numbers stamped on the outer frame ring:
EM 1202 C8319-2
It has a large round and fairly deep metal cover that goes over the round magnet, with a center of cover metal screw that goes into the magnet and holds it on. The magnet cover is a metal finish looking silver color.
On the center area of this magnet cover is a round label that is a silver/chrome foil type background with light blue lettering that says:
Jensen Concert
Electronic Music Speaker
Made in U.S.A.
Jensen Instrument Company (I believe)
Just curious as to what amps these speakers are usually known to be found in, or came stock in, and what you think of them. It really does sound good in this amp, in fact I think better sounding than any of the Alnicos I occassionally have put into it. Any info or help if you are familiar with this speaker would be very much appreciated. It looks like an older speaker so I think it may be from the '60's
Thanks

Re: Question On Older Jensen Concert Speaker
The Concert series I believe was a step up from the "normal" Alnico Jensens that Fender used in the '50s. They are relatively rare and are a very desirable speaker. Probably made in the '50s, '60s or very early '70s, in both Alnico and Ceramic magnets. I think the C designation is for Ceramic, same as the regular Jensens eg C12N.
To determine its age there should be an EIA date code on the edge of the frame that reads 220XYY where X is the year eg 9 for '59, and YY is the week of the year eg 13, the last week of March. If a later one thecode may be 220XXYY eg 2207223 '72 week 23. Maybe the Concert Series did not have the EIA number on it, I am not knowledgeable at that level of detail.
You don't mention it but I am assuming it is the original cone in the speaker. A poorly done recone job would degrade its peformance and value.
Don't let anyone talk you into selling it!
Below is a post off a thread on Telecaster.com about Jensen Concert Vibranto speakers.

These were premium replacement speakers in the Jensen line, and were
available in bass and lead models, as well as different power levels.
They are very efficient, and quality and tonewise at least equivalent the the
Concert series of premium OEM speakers (i.e. the C12N).
I don't have a key to the model names but I have seen:
EM 1200--Marked 50 Watts (probably peak, more like 25 or 30 watts rms)
EM 1210
EM 1220--Marked 100 Watts (I have a pair of these in my BF Bassman, they
are incredible).
EM 1250
M 122
LM 122
LMI 122
I know the 12 refers to the speaker size, because I've seen EM 1501 15"
speakers. I assume the last digit (or two) refers to the power rating, and the
prefix for usage. What the difference is between EM, M, LM and LMI I don't
know.
I hope somebody knows the key to these speakers.
PS--Very desirable, and getting expensive these days.

Re: Question On Older Jensen Concert Speaker
I have no idea about these speakers, but I have a blue concert series in a 1954 Gibson GA-40 and really like it. The code makes it '56 which is also what the welsh gentleman who sold me the amp told me. Below are two pictures which may be of interest.

That is a good speaker, probably better than the stock oxford. I used those in a Twin with good results. Most of the silver framed ones I have used were ceramic magnet.
Re: Question On Older Jensen Concert Speaker
You'll be better off with the Oxfarts. Send me that one when you locate the correct speakers and I'll dispose of it properly.
You did well. Nice speaker. I think I've seen them go on eBay in the $100 range. I've got a 10" pull from an organ that I haven't got around to trying yet but was very excited to get it.

Re: Question On Older Jensen Concert Speaker
perhaps "her indoors" will let me keep the blue one now.
If not maybe she will have you dispose of it correctly
