Saving up for a Rocket ... oh what the heck, I've had a pj since 1994. I can afford $75 in parts. Bored with the pj. Gutted it, kept transformers, chasis and power cord. Turned into...a Spitfire! Thanks to all who contributed in the Spitfire threads! It's standard pj PT, Deluxe OT and mostly spare parts I've been collecting. Got volume and cut control. Used .0022 first stage coupler and 130 pf bright cap. I may not even need to tweek this thing! Best $300 amp I've ever had. Second build fired up perfectly! You guys have me hooked now.

Looks great! I bet it sounds killer.
Did you use a specific layout? if so which one?

Re: Pro Jr to Spitfire
Mostly the Ken Watts layout with a few changes for cut control and diode rectifier. Not much room in that chasis. Tubes mounted on aluminum board due to oversize cutouts. Thread a few post back helped a lot.

Re: Pro Jr to Spitfire
Cool. That's exactly what I did with my PJ. I replaced the neon lamp with another control for VVR and added a small green led. Also I used an 18Watt OT which I prefer to use with the 8ohm tap instead of the 4ohm. Also got a 10" Greenback in it. Great amp.
