Who made the transformers for Valco amps?
I came across a Valco chassis at a garage sale. the guy who owned it removed all the small sparts, ressisstors & ceramic caps. the power transformer is huge. the amp had 4 preamp tubes and 4 output tubes. the solid state retifier was still intact. would this transformer work for an express build?

Does it have numbers on it? Post them here; should be easy to tell. You need to measure the voltages on the secondaries or find the spec for that part to answer your question.

Triwec is is manufacturer, made in the 7th week of 1967. Funny, but I have one of those sitting right here in a Valco amp. It isn't original to this chassis, but it is delivering 430V DC with a FW solid state rectifier in a 2x 6L6 amp. If it was in an amp with four output tubes it should have enough current capability for an express, with the voltage being just a little high.

Thanks for the info. How about a thunderbolt clone, I have a schematic for a ss rectifier model.

Sure, but you have windings for a fixed bias circuit and a vacuum rectifier, so you have a lot of other options open as well. It'd make a nice PT for a 5F6-A, for example.
