I Love Old PA Amps

Post by gldtp99 »

I just unpacked an old Knight 3032 PA head i got from the 'bay------ two RCA Blackplate 6L6GC's (bottom getters)---- two Amperex 12ax7 Bugle Boys (made in Holland w/delta etching)--- one RCA 5U4GB--- and a 6av6.
All tubes look barely used and untouched, full flashing and nice lettering ---- probably haven't been touched since they were installed by factory in the 60's.
I bought this amp for the iron (nice PT and 4/8/16 ohm OT) so these tubes are just a suprise bonus---- i've used similar iron in other builds with good results---- I'm happy !!.................gldtp99

Very nice. Deals are out there. I once got an amp with a Stancor A-3801 and good tubes for very cheap. I don't want to steal your thunder by saying how much. You did very well. <Pat on the back>

When I was at uni a few years ago I was looking for parts cheap, and a friend of mine got an old stereo unit from a junk shop in the south west of UK. The shop owner was so pleased that someone was interested in taking away the 'heavy hunk of junk' that he let him take it away for free. It was chock full of nice iron and untouched Mullards. At the time he was planning to ressurect it to make some sort of hi fi amp for himself that I didnt get a look in.
