Blackface an ultralinear (135W) Twin Reverb?
Does anyone out there have any experience/pointers for blackfacing a 135W ultralinear Twin Reverb? I was thinking about converting the PI & Driver to AB763, and just wanted to be sure this is safe in these models. I have heard that this may not be a good idea. Any other pointers for "helping out" an ultralinear Fender would be appreciated as well! Thanks!

Ultra linear has screen taps on the pri. in the opt, simply don't use them.
If you cook the OPT, it's ok, good time to track down something better.
Start with the powerside and make a sreen supply.
The opt and pt are different, and the rectifier is a bridge and not a full wave.
so your going to have to keep that relationship, but you should be able to
find a tap in the pt and dress screen resistors without too much trouble.

I wouldn't have a problem BF'ing one of these- actually I might even leave the power section as-is. Really, if you think about it, the main quibble is that when cranked the amp is too loud. I have a 70's PA100 which I Blackfaced into a single-channel Twin head. It's a 105W and honestly there's no venue hereabouts where I could crank it anyway. I don't know too many people 'round here who crank Twins into overdrive unless they are at outdoor gigs. I'd rather have the clean power and use a rack or pedalboard with it.
I always wanted to find one of these and turn it into an acoustic guitar amp.
Good Luck, Bill.

Thank you guys! First off, this is not my amp, but a friends. He does run pedals and likes the big clean of the UL Twin. At this point, I'm just trying to learn as much as possible about these UL Fenders since the opportunity has come up.
Again, anyone who has tweaked these with successful results, please share!
