Let's See Your Rig!

Post by Structo »

A couple guys have shown their amp rooms so I thought it would be fun to post our gear or rigs.

Yesterday I reorganized my music room (spare bedroom) and stacked the amps up on the 412 for more free space on the floor.

I could have gone higher but it was starting to get wobbly and
of course I have to reach the controls.

Just hope we don't get an earthquake.

[IMG:558:799]http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b392/ ... s/Amps.jpg[/img]

From the top we have:
Dumbleator Tube Buffered FX Loop
Brown Note D'Lite 44 amp
Marshall AVT 50

Carvin Belair Combo
Marshall 412 with Celestians

In the far left corner is a Peavey Century SS amp sitting on
an early 60's VOX 2x12 with Sheffield's

The 6V6 Rocket amp sitting on a tweed open back
2 x 12 Lopo with two EVM 12L's

My current favorite guitars are the Schecter C1 Classic on the right
A home built P90 Telecaster

And my frugal pedalboard made from a book shelf board with
a square 1 3/4" aluminum piece screwed under the top to angle the
board back.

Effects are from the left:
Hardwired RV-7 Reverb
Cool Cat Chorus
EHX Stereo Memory Man
BYOC Tremolo
Footswitch for the D'Lite
Boss RV-5 Reverb (I use the modulation setting on that)
A BYOC Tubescreamer
Carvin Footswitch
Peterson StroboStomp 2

More effects in front of the board but not being used.

Lets see your rig! :D

All very nice, and I'm totally jealous, but it's that Tele that really catches my eye - it's just stunning :)

Yeah, we have had them before up here but they are rather rare.
Not sure how long I will leave it like that, just trying to make some room.

Thanks for the kind words on the tele Ken.

I had never owned a guitar with P90's or played one for that matter.
The body is alder backed with a quilted maple top.
I dyed the top using a dark vintage amber, sanded that back and then applied a lighter mix of the amber.
The back was dyed with a medium brown.
Clear coated with clear gloss nitro lacquer.
Neck is finished with Tru Oil (gun stock oil finish) and has a really nice feel.
I use that on all my necks and it doesn't get sticky like some lacquer can on necks.

Here is a flamed maple top tele I did a couple years ago.

Hi DeHughes, I keep forgetting you hang at the RR forum.
Did you sell your Belair?

I think the Nomad and Belair (same circuit) have great sounding clean tones.
Very loud amp for EL84's.
It's the Soak channel that doesn't sound that great.
It uses clipping diodes I believe.
Hazzerl (sp) published a few mods for these amps, one is to help the soak channel.

Also Bob at Eurotubes sells tube kits for them as well with varying amounts of gain to your preference.

Anyway, if you want the mods, PM me your email addy and I'll send them.
The forum is not cooperating today as far as attaching files goes.......

I just finished restoring the kit. It is a 1974 Ludwig Quadra Plus that I have owned since 1978. That is my band practice room in the basement. I have my amps stacked around everywhere and I'll try and take some pics tonight when I get home. The subs are some old JBL front loaded cabs with RCF drivers Installed. I just picked up a set of Turbosound TMS3s that are a little too big for our practice room

Here is part of it.

On the left is an Express in cherry sitting on my Rocket 2x12 combo and on the right is the 6SL7 big bottle Rocket prototype sitting on a 2x12 cabinet that I haven't had time to tolex yet. I have two that I built but haven't loaded the other one yet. I want to put my Rocket into a seperate head and have a 2x12 for each , Rocket and Express. The archtop is an old silvertone that I shot myself just to do slide work with. The neck is pulling up and the frets are to high to play it normally. I'm not going to spend 500.00 for a neck reset on a guitar that cost me 15.00.

Okay here are my guitars.
The candy apple one is a kit guitar that I built of a PRS copy. It plays and feels like a LP. The V is a custom built neck thru that I built. It's 24 fret with a neck thru the body. Pickups are a 59 classic in the bridge and a GFS P90 in the neck position. It is shot as a gold top with cream hardware and bindings and a dark coffee back. It is very light and has tons of mojo.
The violin I horse traded for. It has the name Ritter stamped on the back and was made in Germany around the early 1900 or the late 1800's.

Nice!
What brand of kit is the PRS copy?

I built a cheap Saga PRS copy a couple years ago.
It has a flamed maple veneer on top but for some reason Saga likes to coat everything in this bullet proof tan sealer crap.
I tried sanding it off but by the time I sanded the sealer, I was through the veneer as well so I went with solid Shoreline Gold.
I wish I had used Goldtop Gold but didn't have any at the time.
For real cheap guitar it plays pretty good.
It is the only 24.75" scale guitar I own.

Some day I hope to own a Gibson LP. Or at least a high quality clone like an Edwards or Tokai. :D
