JBL Sells Out!

Apparently the hard times have also affected JBL and their speaker manufacturing.

I wonder if some arrangement can be made like the one Altec pro made with Great Plains or The Heritage guitars with Gibson?

The rebuild components are the hardest loss to swallow. However, Ted Weber left a wonderfull legacy with the California line and the Neo.

Have any of you heard the JBL and the California side by side after break in?

Corporate greed, not hard times.

Hmmm. Lemme check. Yes, there's a toothpick manufacturer left in Boise, Idaho.

The Cali are very nice speakers but real JBL's are lightyears ahead.

Is it corporate greed or union labor greed? It seems all to often the labor that builds an American product is part of a labor union who drives up the cost of doing business a little more each year. The corporation has to adjust to cover both growth and costs thus they get priced out out of the market and forced to look esle where in order to compete to stay alive.

AFAICT, JBL has never been a union stronghold.

Not union labor Sell. Total Union enrollment nowadays is only 5% to 7% of the workforce. They don't drive nothin'. And besides, union labor pension plans drive the markets anyway. We need a gallows at the corner of Wall and Broad streets in NYC.

And really, corporate greed is more about Big Conglomerates don't run small companys well. That's why I hope some smaller group like the Heritage folks or Great Plains audio picks up the pro division at JBL. If they move the division to Mexico I don't think all is lost either. I come from a part of the country where about half of my friends are Mexicans. There's no choice, that's the demographic and has been since I was a kid. You know that from where you are. They'll do a fine job I'm sure.

We need more Mexicans and less Middle Eastern nevermind.........

I think if an executive wants a Chinese labor force they should have to move to China to manage that labor force. They don't seem to have any problem paying themselves American wages. Think of how much money these companies would save if they outsourced their management to China.

[Substitute your favorite foreign locale if you don't want to pick on China.]
