Thanks 10thTx,

I just feel that I could free up some space loosing that recto tube and also go with fixed bias. I really like a lot of my cathode 6L6 builds but..... I always have to do things differently it seems :)

I can relate to that. I've never cloned an amp.

I hope you'll post how you like the amp and link soundclips if you make some.

Will do,

I am very interested in your TOS and the sound tracks tell how this amp should sound which is very good to my ears. :)

Chris I forgot to answer your question, yes I am building this amp, it sounds terrific.

On the Tweed OD Special layout and schematic it shows the Fattness pot 250kA this is a pot not a trimmer right? This could go on the front panel to adjust. Zippy said on the front panel?

The mini DPDT switch is on-on-on? Switching OD in and out but allowing the signal to flow through loop? Z-E1

Correct, it is a pot that can go on the front.

IF I am understanding this question correctly, the DPDT is a on-on allowing either clean or OD.

10thTX,

Thanks if I come up with anymore dumb questions please continue to respond :) I always like to start with a faceplate so I am working on that. I saw Berry's (bnwitt) faceplate but I am going to make mine a different layout. He doesn't post here much anymore.

Edit: I am terrible with using drawing software but I think this will work with a clear plexi front. I'll add the holes for the pilot light, brite switch and input jack as I go.

Edit: I will leave faceplate making to the professionals here is my terrible job.

Those look good to me! Are you going to have the OD trimmer inside or on the back panel? I like mine where I can get to it.

10thTX,

I was going to just leave it on the board but looking back on my Dlite build frequent adjusting, it would be a whole lot easier on the back panel.

I built mine without the rectifier tube and I also liked the pot were I could adjust it. Sad thing is I messed around with differant things so much I lost some off what made it a great amp.
I want to build another one and not mess with it, I liked the blooming it had before I tweaked some of it away(LOL).

hmmm good enough for Marky, good enough for me!
I will say Jeff, of all the clips ive listened to, yours were the decider.
You may not have the technique Mat has(and his is great), but what i hear of your amp and playing is what i want.
I am converting a tweed super as I type. Really looking forwrd to it.
Only bummer is having to drill out another tube socket. Is the fatness tube really really necessary?

Got my board happening, just gotta wait for a few small caps and im done.
Im using a toneslut experimenters trannie with 4K3 primaries. I had about 410V with a GZ34 in the last iteration of this amp, so with a plug should get somewhere near the mark.
Ive been looking for a D style mod for my bandmaster build that i never took to. FIngers x'd..

You'll need 3 preamp tubes, LTPI, and power tubes.

Regarding the fatness tube ............ you can use that as a CF to the 5879 tube. I discovered doing so made the OD even smoother AND my Boss digital delay sounded as good behind that CF as it did in the FX/reverb box that I built.

In the same way Dumble amps have different versions, .... the TOS has some variations now as the result of continued experiments. Overall, the variations are just different instead of "better".

CHECK for errors & compare schematic with layout. I drew this up rather quickly.

Just another version of a great amp. With respect, 10thtx

Yes good enough for Marky :D

Hey I did some more, built the board and as you probably already guessed my amp is tubes up with input on left so had to make sure I reversed everything.

Waiting on 250k dual pot and 5879 tube.

Haha, nice one Mark. Im about that far myself, waiting on some tubes. Im using an old build so have redone the board to this spec and adding a preamp socket. Jeffs clips sure sounded good to my ears.

Don,

Are you going tubes up or down like the layout? I screwed up when doing my faceplate so had no choice but to go the hard route.

Since Christmas is arriving soon I had to use my one and only green perf board for this project. :D

Maybe one of these winter days I will finally get my recording equipment set up so I can upload to show how my 6550-Reverb Rocket gets that Dumble tone.
