Nice rig!

I am super snobby.. 'bout my Marshall junk, and George's stuff sits in place just fine. The guy does everything VERY right, and I cried when he closed the store. Hope it opens up again one day soon with full kits.

Marstran has some chassis available though I think they're for 50 & 100's , the JTM45 chassis will be later.

Yesterday I got the KT66s for this amp. I stuck one in the socket, and I took the attached photo.

The screw holes will never line up with the PT. I don't care about that. I can machine a spacer and work it out. Apart from that, though, is there any problem with putting a tube 3/32" from a PT? I can probably move the PT another eighth of an inch away.

The only really obvious thing is that if someone kicked the amp hard enough, the bulb might shatter against the PT.

Man. Unacceptable. I wouldn't to that.

It might be time to consider mounting the PT in stand-up position.

I machined a block of aluminum to go over the transformer hole. I can move the PT so there's around 3/8" of clearance. I can also stand it up, if I want. The KT66 tubes are so huge, there is zero possibility that standing the transformer up will cause a space problem. The cabinet is presumably tall enough for the tubes, so it will be tall enough for a stand-up transformer.

I think I'm going to lay it on its side. It will look better, and I think it will be sturdier. But I'll have to open a big hole in that block.

I ordered the steel Triode JTM45 for KT66 chassis on Saturday and received it today fast shipping.

I'm not going to mess with space issues around that overgrown PT and space necessary for the KT66's.

The Mojo JTM45 faceplates fit perfect.

If this was my amp, I'd be right behind you.

Here's what I have done so far. Again, I realize this is the long way around the barn, but I like using machine tools.

For some reason they look like little Chassids on their way to the synagogue.

I put the amp aside for a while because I was working on a Telecaster. Today I finished the spacer I made for the PT. Here it is, mounted. The tubes are nearly half an inch from the PT, but I'm worried they'll be too close to the cabinet.

Every problem can be solved if you're willing to hack a chassis up beyond recognition.

Nicely done modification, that looks really good and I see the KT66's fit now.

The one in the corner will be the gz34, right? Do you mean the spacing with respect to the rear panel of the cabinet?
