Does anybody know if these are front load cabs?

Or does the back come off so you can rear load the speakers?

I had these plans sitting around for many years so thought I should share them.

I believe the originals are front loaded w/ a separate grill frame that sits in the recess in front of the baffle, from what I've gathered in pictures anyway.
But I also think the back panels are screwed on from the outside and so, removable.

When I built mine I rear loaded it and set the speaker baffle flush w/ the front edge, and also screwed the rear panel from the inside as well for a clean look - I'll see if I can dig up some pictures for a look at a different take.

Thanks!
I used to fool around w/ Sketchup all the time, drawing in 3D is fun and gets me thinking in different ways, but I haven't busted it out in a while. And when the chance arose I figured I'd dig out some old tricks. Man I forgot ALOT, but remember now why I like it!

I have always had a mental block about spending big bucks on a speaker box.

I have a cheap 2 x 12 (Lopo) that with 2 EVM 12L Classics that probably would sound a lot better in a nicer enclosure.

I love the speakers so I should build a nice cab.

That one that mcrracer posted looks interesting as well.
Did you build one of these or buy one already made?

But ideally, I would want the cab vertical so i could put my amp head on top.
I have seen some vertically staggered 2 x 12's that look good and they get a little wider due to the stagger.
I did not build my guitar cab although I did build a couple of bass cabs and a subwoofer. I had someone else build the guitar cab because my vision is failing. Bill F says something about vertical mounted speakers not working as well. I do not know all of the science behind it. I am happy with my bass cabs as well as my guitar cab.

So, I was looking over the my drawing again and noted that the caption at the top of the image incorrectly indicated a cab depth of 12 1/2" while the scaled image correctly showed 12 1/4".

I've attached the corrected image so burn or correct any prior copies!

Many apologies...

Do you know how far back the baffle is from the front edge?
I see the baffle is screwed to cleats but there also appears to be two cleats on the front of the baffle.

I guess what I'm getting at is how would a grill be fitted?
That is a grill with a frame and speaker cloth.

Well...
the double thickness of the two long sides comes from spacer strips attached to the sides. They run from the front edge of the side to the back of the cleats the baffle is screwed to, essentially spacing the baffle and it's associated cleats in 3/4". I'm not really sure of the reason behind these other than esthetics. There is some discussion of that here: https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... =oval+port you've probably seen it...

In my drawing, the speaker baffle sits back 3/4" to leave room for a grill frame that would be attached in front of the baffle in the usual heavy-duty hook-and-loop fasteners at the corners method. Although, looking back now at that thread and the close up pics there, I'm second guessing this.
It appears that the grill cloth might just be attached to the front of the baffle itself which would negate the use of a dedicated grill frame. And while the cab in the above thread seems to be a copy, it's a "pretty exact" one.

I guess it boils down to - I wish I could see one in person to know fer sher. And if you're looking to do an exact copy, I guess I just don't have enough info to get you there. :x Good luck on it though!
