I have grown to like the Wheelhouse quite a bit. It's an EV EVM-12L variant, and uses a hemp cone and a Neo magnet. It's a darker speaker, good for taming highs. I also have an Eminence EM12N, which is their version of the EV speaker, and it's very good as well, a good successor to the legacy.
I had to cut a lot of bass in this circuit--see my use of small value coupling caps and the 1u cathode bypass. And I further added the one-knob tone control to allow boosting of highs. The circuit still belongs in Tweed territory, I think--warms up quickly as you increase Volume, gets greatest gain and articulation around 1 or 2 o-clock on the dial, and after that, the bass content increases and the sound gets much fatter as you dial it up, Crazy Horse style. Really fun. And running through a simple resistive power attenuator has been perfect. It maintains its character quite well at low volume.
