It seems to clip pretty nicely..When I play it loud through my open back 1x12 with a Celestion G12H it distorts pretty nicely when dimed..
I think Mr Brown has really optimised it as good as he could..
It must be the balancing of the cathode bias resistor value (91 ohm) and the grid resistor (47 ohm) on the second EL84 which is connected to ground..
think he carefully decided on a correct primary impedance on the OT (10K) to get it right..
But I think my stock tubes are a little hot in this amp.. Even for class A.. I am not sure I am calculating the idle dissipation correctly as I use the same method as for cathode biased Push pull amps such as a Vox Ac15..
