Re: toggle switches keep breaking
I never pinch those toggles, I push on the whole opposite surface of the setting I am going for. I stopped breaking them because I hold my breath and use the force. -click- whew...

Mouser sells short bat mini toggles (like barely 1/4").....geez, with the toggles...

Re: toggle switches keep breaking
Honestly, we've gotten so few complaints about this over the years. It would seem a cover or a road case (or generally treating things a little more careful) should prevent these kinds of accidents from happening. Some amps (Traynors, production Fuchs) have the panel recessed behind wood so the switches are somewhat shielded from the field...the shorter toggles should help..

Andy,
The guy who's Fuchs Modded deluxe reverb keeps breaking (i.e. the toggle switches) is a little rough on his amps, plus, I think he is cursed
LOL
His amps are breaking a lot more than anyone elses I know. For the amps I am building I place the toggles between two Fender style tone control knobs, so they are kinda protected due to the tone knobs sticking-out farther than the toggle.
Thanks,
P.

It's interesting what real world owners can reveal about potential weaknesses in design. They often expose things that we as the builders might not have thought about. I think that's a very good call about protecting toggles in between control knobs and I use short bat toggles when possible. I have a client who is a helluva guy but man, he is rough on his gear. He is always warning me not to put toggles on his amps as he assures me he will break them off. I was reminded of just how extreme life for an amp can be when one of my amps came back for retubing. The head cab was absolutely filthy! I literally took the chassis out and washed the head cab with soap and water!pula58 wrote:Andy,
