The 12AT7 is really nice. More juice than the 12AY7, but not dry and harsh. I'm going to go ahead and move my old Ragin' Cajun to the Vox so I don't have to wait for the new one and reopen the cabinet.

I stuck the new speaker in the Vox, and it sounds 100% better. Question: if I add an input jack (so I can use the Vox as a cabinet), do I have to fix it so the input of the other amp can't get into the output stage of the Vox, or is the impedance so high it won't bother it? There is plenty of room for a second jack in the sheet metal on the back of the Vox.

I decided to get on with it. I stuck a 1/4" jack in the back of the Vox so I can connect an external amp to the speaker. I also have a switch to cut the Vox circuit out of the loop. Haven't tried it yet. Not the highly professional P-Touch labels. That's the mark of a great amp.

Here are the mods I made on my 4TV:

-NOS 12AX7 (Sylvania military), nice overdrive grain
-I also installed a "speaker in" jack
-VVR installed, sounds better than the stock attenuator (moved to the back panel), and allow to play at bedroom level.

IMHO a great low watt amp for cheap :D

These are neat little amps. The VVR must be great.

My big problem now is that my 5F6A sounds so wonderful played through the Vox, I have no reason to use the original circuitry unless I'm traveling.
