ok. got the VVR from Hall, installed it perfectly as this instructions indicate with new 220 ohm/5W resistor vertically, .1uF with R19 on the input, thermal compount...everything, and although the amp powers up and sound comes out....move the pot one way or the other....NO DIFFERENCE!! What gives???
Any help is greatly appreciated!

It has worked for many other people. Best not to assume "perfect" if it's not working.

I've spoke with Hall a few times going back and forth and taking readng. They think there is something wrong with the VVR and/or MOSFET, so they're sending a new unit! Can't wait to try it.
In the meantime, I made my own one-sided board with better spacing, etc. than on the net! I etched and installed it with the same components....100k's, 10ohm 5W, 1N34A and NYE MOSFET. Well, it worked anf the voltage on pin7 goes from like 34V to like 286V or something, so seems to be working.
At less than 1/2 on the pot., it sputters. Between 1/2 and full, it really didn't change volume soo much and tone sacrificed!!! It sux and we decided to pull it out for now!!! Not sure what the issue is or is VVR and regulating voltage just sux in our opinion (which my belief is it does/would), but that is it in a nutshell!!

I am very happy with the way an original Dumble ODS sounds at living room level and I have much fun to use them at such a low volume for playing along with a record or some backing track as an example. The resulting volume then isn't higher than when I would just listen to the record without playing along. No problem at all for anyone who would be in the next room with an intention to read, or to listen to some other music - if doors are closed. The volume is that low that I can't use an L5 or a Switchmaster as an example because at such a low volume their acoustic sound would be more present in my ears than the sound of the amp.
The only thing I have to do to be satisfied with the tone and response of an original Dumble ODS (all generations) at such a low volume is to place the speaker (or the combo amp) somewhere where its sound can directly be projected to my ears and to the body of the guitar. The Master Volume I set somewhere between 0.5 and 1 for such a low volume and the OD gain a bit higher than at a usual volume and I perhaps use the PB and the FET input a bit more often when playing at living room level than when playing at usual levels.

Your experience is definitely NOT the norm! I have installed a lot of Dana's VVRs in various amps with great results. All of my customers who have amps with the VVR installed are very happy with the way they can adjust the VVR and retain their tone. It is my experience and my belief that the VVR circuit does not suck but works as advertised. I'll tell you what. Just send back the second kit when it arrives (Uninstalled) along with what is left with the first kit and I will issue a full refund through paypal. There are hundreds if not over a thousand of the VVRs that have been installed through out the world with great results. If you decide to keep and install the second kit please pay close attention to step 5 in the instructions in regards to static electricity from your body blowing the mosfet. With all of the cold weather and dry heat in our shops and houses this time of year it is very important to observe proper handeling techniques when handling static sensitive devices like a mosfet or you could damage it just taking it out of it protective static bag.
