I have been using Triodstores great tranny kits due to pricing and the quality is good.
Re: if you had to pick....
I've been in the shops/basements of both Metro George and Brian Wallace (Marstran) and neither one of them are winding their own trannies. They're all made by Heyboer. I'm not claiming them to be exactly the same. I'm just sayin'.....
Re: if you had to pick....
Very true. Heyboer also make Brandon's transformers but it doesn't make them the same as George's or Brian's.
They are all made to their own (proprietary) specifications, and Brian's are definitely different to George's, based on their own original transformers that were torn down.

true. I already knew this, but it's not who makes them, it's who specs them. The guy putting engines in a car on the assembly line didn't have any input on the design of the engine. And those who did design it aren't on the assembly like building cars.

AES distributes iron sourced from New Sensor and manufactured by Magnetic Components. They aren't really competitive price-wise because of the added distribution layer.antique electronic supply
For instance the NS P-TM0100 OT retails for $77.95 ($59.95 wholesale) while the identical MC 40-18026 retails for $53,97 ($39.09 wholesale).
AFAICT AES is replacing NS iron with equivalents from the Hammond guitar series.
