Looking for pot

Post by donnievaz »

Does anyone have any idea where/if I could find a push-pull bass tone pot for an 80's Laney AOR series?

Thanks

Not sure, here's a schematic. http://www.schematicheaven.com/newamps/laney_aor30.pdf
Did I mention I'm a noob :-) If it were just a simple pot it wouldn't be a problem but it's a big push-pull monstrosity.

So it's the bass pot that is bad.

It push/pulls for boost?

That is a 1 Meg ohm audio taper or log taper pot.

Can you see it?

It looks like the switch is just a SPST (single pole single throw).

Look down about mid way for the CTS 1M push/pull audio taper pot.

Does it look like this?

Correct, it pulls for boost. It looks similar to that but a little bulkier. I'll have to look at it later (I'm at work) and see if it has the same amount of tabs on it. Thanks for your help!

That amp has a boost for everything treble, mid and bass. You better stock up on push/pull pots.

If you get the CTS version, it's easy to make any value you need. CTS pots disassemble easily and you can swap the resistance track from another CTS pot to meet your requirements. Yes, you should stock up. They're getting a little harder to find these days. CTS will still make them, but the minimum order size is daunting unless you're a distributor.

Sativa typically will make the amp sound better to you.
