Folks,

Again thanks for all the discussion. I will be going with the Ampeg pre, and as much power as I can squeeze out of the small form factor that the user wants.

I will keep you guys posted on the progress, once the potential customer makes a decision.

Thanks again,
Michael

I only mentioned the BP102 as an example. The point was that the efficiency of the speaker is something a person might want to consider when designing a bass amp.

But I do think its a good bass driver. I prefer a low resonance to high efficiency, particularly these days since power is cheap and a lot of people have a low B. The main benefit of a low resonance is that you get a smoother low end response without the downsides of a ported cab (which the CH2010 requires.)

Different strokes for different folks. I personally believe from experience that the Delta Lite II 10 inch in a properly designed horn type cab with two banks of crossfiring piezos is the ultimate in efficiency and tone. See BFM cabs DR250 cab. Plus it is extremely light weight. The older I get the less stuff I want to carry. I like a crisp in your face accurate reproduction of my bass. I have a custom built high end bass with the ultimate in pickups and electronics. I did not have it built to mask it with inefficient boomy speaker boxes. I, over my career and travels, have played many different cabs from Peavey on up. I have found nothing commercially available to come close to what I have now. I am not affiliated in any way with BFM...just a very satisfied user.
