European Heyboer alternative?

Post by arjepsen »

Hey.

I've been trying to find a european site to buy Heyboer trafos (to avoid tax etc.) but without luck.
I've come across a German site, that sells custom trafos: "Ask Jan First".

So now I wonder if anyone have had any experience with their trafos (specially OT's) compared to Heyboers?

Regards.

I gave up searching and just went directly to Heyboer. I've found that the particular postal service that they use tends to fly under the customs radar on arrival in the UK so I don't mind getting hit for the odd one.

Well, I wouldn't trust the danish customs not to pick it out :)
B.t.w. I can't seem to reach the Heyboer website. Keep getting a 403-access denied error.

Anyways, I'd still like to hear some opinions on how the "AskJanFirst" OT compare to the Heyboers.

This is interesting - not trying to hijack the thread, but this is a slight problem for several europeans...??
I too have been looking around for european distributors or makers, and there's actually quite a few,- mostly of european make, - or maybe importertedto europe from somewhere....
Freight cost from US is geting hilarious, and Norway bing outside EU does not make it less expensive.
There's Tube-Town, TubeAmpDoctor, Welter, Novarria, Reinhöfer, even more...
and of course several distributors of Hammond....
anyone with experiences and comments...???

+1 on that.

Their postal rates are extremely good also, but the main reason I go with them is to get them made exactly how I want them.

If you want a stock Heyboer tranny, the entire range of Mojotone is available from http://www.allparts.uk.com/ . Mojotone assured me that all their tranny's are still Heyboer. If it is not in stock at allparts.uk, they can usually get it in. If you are trade, you may be able to get an account.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Paul.

Well, the reason I bring up that particular site, is that I also want something custom wound (low watt OT's).
And as stated, I can't access the Heyboer website. (anyone else have that problem?)

(btw. add banzai-effects and uraltone to those european sites you mentioned. Maybe we should compile a list?)

So again, anyone have any experience with the Heyboers compared to the others mentioned?

I know of him - In fact I'm just about to put in an order with him.
But the general problem for us europeans still remains...??

It's working fine for me, using http://www.heyboertransformers.com/

Not that there's anything on the site of use other than the contact details though. I tend to just email them and discuss what I want, and then Phil makes it happen.

Worked fine for me too.

Perhaps you have a Proxify issue? You can try going through Proxify.com --- this unblockes some sites on your normal computer can't see.

You just put Heyboer URL into the box.
