Hi everyone!
I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and I was wondering if anyone has tried an Alnico Gold in that amp. I didn't like the stock speaker at all and replaced it with the stock speaker of my marshall 1922 2X12 cab(which was the only other speaker i owned) which did improve the sound but it was still slightly "farty" for medium gain and solo tones. I've heard really good things about the Vintage 30 which I'm getting to upgrade the speakers in the 212. But I still need a really good speaker for the combo as i carry this for most of my live gigs.
My pedals include a MI Audio Tube Zone, Boss BD-2 Blues Driver and a Swollen Pickle MKII for Dirt. Both the tube zone and BD-2 are boosted by a Xotic BB Preamp(one at a time according to requirement). Guitar is Fender Standard Strat with Suhr Fletcher Landaus.
I've also heard some good things about the G12H Heritage in the Hot Rod Deluxe. Anybody tried that one?
Thanks for your time. Looking forward to some replies soon!

The bias point in one of those is really easy the get at, although pin 3 on the
power tube sockets is a bit of a trick to get to, to get the plate voltage and
figure the static plate dissipation in watts. The last few of those that I've
been into to service came with the bias set so cold that the tone of the thing
really suffers. Have the bias checked and raised, to some point around say
19w per tube and then re-evaluate speaker selection. The character of the
thing will change. I have several times dealt with customers who were on the
verge of investment, desperate to have their fender sound like a fender.
Check the bias.

The gold is pure gold. Every amp ive played mine thru has sounded better for it. Absolutely great speaker. I just took a eminence texas heat in trade for a V30, the heat is very alnico'sh to my ears. for 70 bucks new, a definite bargain and i like mine as much as the gold. Pretty sweet tones. I had a hotrod and it was a great amp, but sterile thru the stock eminence.
