New D'Lite finished

Post by ampdoc1 »

Finally got my personal D'Lite finished. Had some initial problems with the preamp tubes being very microphonic, though I tried several brands.

! finally wrapped a think rubber band around each of them and that cured the problem dead. Not sure why this works,..does this deaden the resonance of the glass?

Also, I think I have the internal gain trimmer set too high. Anyone have a suggestion as to what level there is optimum?

thanks,

Some have mentioned 25K to 35K wiper to ground for the trimmer.
The higher you set it the smoother it seems to get to a point.
The OD tone also depends on the plate voltage to the tube.

Another thing you can try for your microphonic tubes is large shrink wrap tubing.
I read about that here but haven't tried it.
Cover the top half of the tube with it and shrink it.

I enjoy the hell out of my D'Lite 44. :D

Don't let that smoke out!
