Are there any resources, websites, forums, etc.., related to 2061x style amps or modified versions of the amp?

I have the info I need for a clone, and I will go that route first. I have tinkered with a couple of project amps, but this will be my first end-to-end build.

Id eventually like to modify this amp to at least have a Presence control, or maybe try to build another tweaked version of the amp without the bass channel. Has anyone done these kinds of projects before using the 2061x as a starting point? Is there any documentation for this stuff anywhere?

I had a similar idea to do one of these and then started wondering if I could build something that would be generic enough to either be an 18 watter OR a Trainwreck but using EL-84s. Basically i was going to plan the boards to go either way just by changing parts. I have not thought much about whether the trannies would work or not and that may be the deal breaker. Guess i should look at what kind of voltages each reuquires.

I have concluded that almost any power transformer is suitable for use with most circuits without affecting tone the only difference being volume. You do have to keep the voltage proportions between stages the same however and the transformer has to be able to handle the current. I think our experience with voltage scaling proves that. Of course this is just my opinion--- I would like to hear other peoples views on this subject.

That's a bold statement, and if I had to choose, one that I would agree with. I can't prove it because I have not A/B'd a bunch of PTs with the same amp. I do give less importance to the PT than I do to the OT when purchasing trannies at least in terms of its affect on the tone of the amp. I am very interested in trying power scaling and will try it on my next build.
