Blonde Bassman PT primary grounding?

Post by dehughes »

Hello all,

I'm drawing up a schematic for a Blonde Bassman-ish amp I'm going to build, but I don't want the "death cap" (obviously) and am wondering about grounding the primary of the PT. Of course I'll use a three prong electrical cord for the amp, but I'm wondering if the primary of the PT needs to be grounded as well. I'm buying a "clone" PT from Mercury Magnetics, and this won't have a CT on the PT primary, so I'm at a loss as to what I should do.

Thanks.

Most PT's don't have a CT on the primary. Just ground the AC in and PT secondary CT.

Cool. I wasn't sure, and this would only be the 3rd amp I've built, the other two having PT's with grounded primaries.

Thanks!
