Got a Princeton Reverb II !!

Post by Seemoore »

But I think this one has been tampered with..there is only a 2 prong poer cord, I know the one I had had 3, and there are new looking Orange Drop caps, by new I mean they don't look as weathered as the rest of the circuit.

No matter, I'm already talking with Ken at turretboards.com about getting a new circuit board made up. I'll install a new circuit and still have the old intact.

I would like to change the big cap cannister also, I believe this is a filter cap, but the layout and schematic are a little vauge on it's specific value or number.

The amp sounds very good right now but I just don't trust the circuit board material, which looks like hard paper ?? and some of the resistors are showing there age.

And finally a bias kit from Torres and some JJ6v6's.

The sound is the sound I remember from playing way back when tube amps were the norm, not a specialty item.
I've been looking for the sound with modelers and none of them deliver, the tone may be a good enough clone but the feel, texture, and remnants of sound are simply not present.

I'm excited about playing again!!

The can cap is a 80ufx40ufx20uf at 450vdc.

CE has a 80x40x30x20 at 525vdc that should work, but check your physical dimensions.

CE ?

I wonder about the possibility of changing it to a cap stack? or would that be just wasted time?

CE is the wholesale side of Antique Radio Supply, or now they are called " Tubes and More"

http://www.tubesandmore.com/

It is possible to substitute some axial caps and attach them with hot glue or a strap.
