Graydon pretty much originated the interest in Marshall 18 watt amps. He offers a high quality kit. You get what you pay for, that's reflected in the price. The only way to get a "better" Marshall 18 watt or 18 watt replica is to either buy an original (bring lots of money and even then you may get a cleverly crafted fake) or buy a replica from one of the few builders of high quality replicas. Sure there are a lot of clones available, when you filter by quality your choices thin out substantially.

The GDS trannies are pretty much the definitive 18-watt trannies. I don't have one of his amps, but I do have a JTM45 built on one of his chassis':

Excellent stuff and Graydon is a great guy on top of that.

I've used graydons OT's on some higher end 18 watt and vox variants. Their really the bees knees, best of the line in my view for that type of amp. They are likely more suited to el84's, or at least thats how I have used them.
it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds

Bought my first kit years ago from Graydon. Been to his house, he's met me at work, and he's even stopped by my house on occasion to help me with other builds I didn't buy from him. Awesome dude with a passion for amps!

Absolutely can't go wrong with GDS!

GDS has a rock solid reputation. The only exception I might note is for Canadians, who might find it much cheaper due to border/import/brokerage fees to go with Trinity Amps and their 18w kit, out of the Toronto area IIRC, who also have yet to reach me with a bad word of mouth.
