The Chinese folks can teach all of us a lesson in perseverence and a non- complaining attitude with a hell of a work ethic. One day they will get it right and they will kick the ass of most western competitors, even quality- wise.
That said, I'm not a fan of the human rights issues, and I'm certainly not suggesting that working for a sub- standard wage is ideal. But I think I take my hat of to them
The term is "Jap Scrap".
Here's the way it went: "We", the U.S. of A. with our allies wiped German and Japanese industry off the map 60 some-odd years ago. Japan was pretty much a U.S. solo act, a couple nukes on bamboo houses and it was over. It's interesting to study industrial history, you don't exactly have a control group but one can compare East German under the Sovs to West Germany under Nato. The look at Great Britain, industry there was also devastated after the War but it was mostly up to the jolly old Brits to rebuild. At least they brought us Mullard, Genelex and Marshall.
Starting with a clean sheet of paper Japan and Germany have done quite well. My question would be, "In the long run, who won?"
As a student of The Cold War I've come to understand that conventional warfare is obsolete. No joke. There's nothing nice and there's nothing polite about a leveraged buyout, it's a Capitalist tool to put it nicely. The big joke here is that the nice Communists can and likely will use something like a leveraged buyout... as a weapon. The funny part is if you have a sick sense of humor (I do) is that you have "communists" using "capitalism" as a weapon. It's humorous in a very distrurbing way. What do you do when some sumbitch gets the drop on you, you're at gunpoint and yours is still in the holster? You laugh, might as well. There's nothing else you can do. Not me, anyway.
We can all politely observe the rules of polite conduct as they're put forth. We can be alarmed by the alarmist soundbites but 15 seconds later they're forgotton. So I'm an alarmist crackpot, point taken.
What if I'm not?
