You can Google around and find lots of reviews and recommendations. There are many such reviews and demos on YouTube. Pay attention to the date that the review was posted so you get current information. You don't need a lot of bandwidth for audio work, so the good news is that the low-end scopes will be adequate. Handhelds are becoming more available and popular, so you might consider that option.

I was typing & looking for a pic, as nekors reply posted.

I am fairly new to scopes myself & after some learning time with a borrowed 20yo scope, I bought a DHO804 last year.

I think most of the new digital scopes have pretty similar capabilities, a mind-numbing array & I probably wont use most of them.

But what has been the most useful feature of the Rigol has been the HDMI output which allows the use of a monitor. That feature, along with the USB input, lets me pretty much run it with just a mouse, with only occasional knob spinning on the actual scope.

My eyesight is actually pretty good (still readers only) but I had found the small screen on the borrowed scope was fatiguing to use.

Forgot to mention that the Rigol also has VESA mounting points so you can mount it off the bench on an articulated TV mount.

Check Mattias Wandel on YT: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... cilloscope
and especially this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd_mHf-cwIA&t=479s
Whether you are interested in these two scopes isn't that important. I think he does a good job of showing you what to consider.

All these small digital scopes seem to have a max input of 300v RMS with a 10x probe. Won't scoping nominal waveforms (DC + AC) inside a tube amp push this limit?

I have a 4-channel Rigol MSO5000, with the 16-channel logic analyzer pod. It is way overkill for working on amps only, but it does a lot of other things I'm into very well, and the promo at the time unlocked nearly all the features. It is darn amazing what you can get in a scope for the price these days. There are many, many choices out there.

Yeah, you have to respect the limits of the instrument, but that's not an uncommon limitation for many scopes today.

You can purchase an appropriate high-voltage probe though.
