I've been interested for some time and doing the Mesa mod, (and maybe the JCM mod as well. In a perfect world if it was possible I would have all 3 on a 3 way switch, no mod/JCM/Mesa) to my Peavey ValveKing amplifier. I was wondering if anyone could give me some detailed instructions or point me in the right direction to finding them.?
Just a little background, I am 41, I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years, modding guitars and pedals for probably 10 or 12 years, and just have recently had a bit of interest in modding a couple of my existing amps. I am well aware of the dangers of modifying and breaking open a tube amp, but I am not opposed to anyone giving me redundant safety advice as you can never hear too much of that.
I have seen a few videos of people showcasing their mesa modded valve kings and would like to try it myself, But I can't seem to find any definitive instructions on how to do so Just bits and pieces here and there and a couple of schematics which I'm not the greatest at reading at this point in my life, although I am trying to get it figured out through asking questions of people that I know are really good at it but I still don't grasp the hole idea quite yet so I'm afraid that trying to follow a schematic is going to lead me in directions I don't need to go, or worse, into some kind of a danger zone..
I know that maybe this question has been answered a million times or that maybe it seems to have been, I just am not looking to destroy my amp or kill myself, so, some thought out advice or instructions from someone who really knows their shit or who has even pulled off these mods before would be extremely appreciated. I'm no stranger to soldering, audio gear, guitars and pedals... Well versed in cracking all of these things open and screwing around with the insides...AND have even managed to get the majority of them put back together in working order... Not always, but most of the time.. Sometimes in even better working order than they were when I took the covers off..
Note:
I do know that there are a few different wattages/versions of this amp out there so I did attach a picture of the one that I am wanting to modify. 100w head version. Not 100% sure on the exact year but I did buy it brand new, I would say probably about 20 years ago, give or take. However if knowing the year of manufacture is important when trying to do something like this I can probably figure that out somehow, just lmk.
Thanks so much for any help that anyone can offer...
